Becoming a pickup spot
A Sekai Bivouac pickup spot is a place where someone with nowhere safe to spend the night, who will go to a public consultation desk the next day, can collect an emergency support package.
Restaurants, bookshops, shops, temples, churches and NPOs whose main work is not support all help us. We are currently recruiting in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama and Chiba.
What we ask
- Store the packages — three to five large Letter Pack envelopes
- Intake and handover — when someone arrives, carry out a five-minute intake in a dedicated web app and hand over a package
- Be listed on the site — we list you on the Sekai Bivouac site. Your listed hours need not match your opening hours
What we do not ask
- We ask nothing resembling consultation support. Only the intake, following the app's instructions
- You do not manage stock either. Our office tracks it and restocks
Frequently asked questions
Are there conditions for registering?
At present we can only register companies and organizations; individuals cannot register. Voluntary groups can register provided they have a record of regular activity. Most other conditions are quite flexible — for example if you only open once or twice a month — so please ask.
Do we have to manage stock?
No. Our office counts stock within the registration system and restocks when it runs low.
Do we have to provide support if someone comes?
No. It ends with the intake in the app and handing over the package. Leave the rest to our office.
Is there a fee, in either direction?
Neither. We do not pay a fee, and we do not charge you anything.
How much use should we expect?
It varies considerably by area and location. We would like to meet with you before you start, so that we can estimate it together.
