For people who have lost their housing and money and can no longer move within the city, we developed an intake app and an emergency support package so that they can stay one night and reach support the next day. Bookshops, other shops and organizations host them.
The programme began in November 2021 with Tsukuroi Tokyo Fund as the operating body. Toimikke is responsible for its design, analysis and app development.
What is in the emergency support package
A large Letter Pack envelope containing:
- Enough for one night's emergency accommodation
- Enough for one meal
- Enough to travel to a consultation service
- A battery-powered mobile charger
- A user guide and a list of places to turn to
How pickup spots work
Restaurants, bookshops, shops, temples, churches and NPOs whose main work is not support host the packages in their area, and we publish their locations on the web.
When someone who has lost their housing reaches one, the spot only carries out a five-minute intake using a dedicated app. The person spends that night safely and, the next day, reaches a support organization or public assistance.
